Sustainability through design | Seminar 8th Feb

On Thursday 8th February, a seminar hosted by Flokk Senior Vice President in Design Christian Lodgaard, alongside the design studio Pearson Lloyd will explore Flokk’s most recent success stories; from upcycling discarded snow plough markers to the pioneering use of European household waste, the best design practices we have managed to date and our next ambitions.

“Now more than ever sustainability needs global action - not just words" says Christian Lodgaard, continuing, "and this action needs to be done in design. Beyond setting strict criteria for our own design efforts, addressing this with force requires broad collaboration across value-chains & stakeholders. This is what we have refined and taken to industrial scale in Flokk over years, what we keep pushing, and it represents the practices we like to present, to share, and to invite others to follow.”

Designers Luke Pearson and Tom Lloyd (Pearson Lloyd Design) will also be presenting on how they design for change, using their recent collaboration with Flokk by Profim, Revo, as the perfect example of forward-thinking sustainable design.

Pearson Lloyd: “Revo represents a radical rethinking of the way upholstered contract furniture is made in response to the climate crisis. Replacing the plywood base structure with REPP (recycled expanded polypropylene) maximises the potential reuse of the base materials. Plywood has no circularity. REPP, which is already in its second life, can be fully remoulded for a third, a fourth, ad infinitum.”

In 2022 we launched full-scale production of our HÅG Capisco Puls chairs made from recycled plastic obtained from broken and discarded snow plough markers.
Revo was designed by Pearson & Lloyd for Flokk brand Profim, combining circular thinking with playful design to create a lightweight and versatile workplace furniture system.

Offecct @ Stockholm Furniture Fair

Flokk brand OFFECCT will be exhibiting at the Stockholm Furniture Fair, sharing bold colours and a special focus on the new ways of working together.
How and where we work have created exciting new spaces and opportunities in the workplace, and Offecct has a wide range of designs making it happen.
The Offecct stand has been created by Gwenaëlle Girard and Baptiste Pilato from En Bande Organisée. Their studio is specializing in interior architecture, furniture and artistic direction. It is a multidisciplinary studio for well-thought-out design and spaces that all have a common taste of colours.

The stand is a very playful room, she describes it like this: “Colour is a great tool for creating and structuring spaces. As interior designers, we appreciate furniture and its proportions in a space in resonance with other objects and volumes that surround it. We imagine the volumes of the furniture at the same time that we design the volumes of the space. Colour allows us to see the space, and the furniture, as a ”wholeness”.”
You can find Offecct at stand C13:29 at Stockholm Furniture Fair, 7-11 February 2023.
Opening times:
Tuesday – Friday: 09.00 – 18.00
Saturday: 10.00 - 17.00
