Comments from the jury
"If the last six months has showed us anything, then it is that we are moving towards a more flexible life, and a future with extended use of home office in meetings. And with that we look to the office furniture manufacturers. We want to sit ergonomically correct, on sustainable materials, executed with extreme precision using modern technology.
We also want furniture to be aesthetically beautiful additions to our interiors. Through their nine brands, Manufacturer of the year offers all this. In addition, it contributes with sustaining Norwegian and Scandinavian production and industry.
The Manufacturer of the year has also been noticed the last year by throwing light on their sustainable production, through the much-talked about and recognized stand during Stockholm Furniture Fair last year – and also through their own sustainability department, investments in environmental solutions and research, and a collaboration with Sintef.
Another exciting collaboration is with the prestigious design school ECAL in Switzerland. The manufacturer wants to learn from young heads, it wants to push forward and not stagnate – and at the same time pass knowledge on to the next generation. In other words, a manufacturer for the future.
Also one of Flokks long time collaborators, designer Jonas Stokke made an impression on the jury. Together with the well known Norwegian designer Andreas Engelsvik, they won the prize for "Furniture of the year" for a sitting bench, produced by Vestre for the new Munch-museum.
