Flokk acquires ergoCentric, expanding North American footprint

Flokk strengthens its position in Canada and adds ergonomic task seating expertise through the acquisition of Toronto-based ergoCentric.

Flokk has acquired ergoCentric of Toronto, one of Canada's leading specialists in ergonomic task seating. The acquisition adds nationwide distribution and a dedicated manufacturing facility in Toronto, further strengthening Flokk's presence in North America. With ergoCentric, Flokk reaches annual sales of approximately USD 600 million.

Founded in 1990, ergoCentric is headquartered in Toronto, where Flokk already operates through Spec Furniture, acquired earlier this year. Together the two companies form a strong combined platform in the Canadian market. ergoCentric serves the mid- to high-end segment of the ergonomic seating market, with task chairs as its core category, and generates annual revenue of approximately CAD 80 million across a staff of around 220.

"By adding ergoCentric to the Flokk group, we significantly strengthen our footprint in Canada and enhance our position in the growing ergonomic task seating segment. With ergoCentric's strong market position and distribution, we gain scale in Canada and capabilities that complement our existing brands in North America," says Henning Karlsrud, Group CEO of Flokk.

ergoCentric will continue to operate as an independent brand within the Flokk portfolio, retaining its existing management team, production facility, and sales and distribution organisation. Founder and CEO Terry Cassaday will remain with the company through the integration to ensure continuity for customers, employees, and partners.

"We already have an established commercial and production relationship with Flokk. Drawing on this experience, I am confident that Flokk will provide an excellent home for ergoCentric and enable us to accelerate our growth and broaden our reach across North America," says Cassaday.

ergoCentric is Flokk's second acquisition in Canada this year. Karlsrud describes the Canadian seating market as comparable in size to Germany, with natural commercial ties to key US markets. Through a combination of organic growth and acquisitions, Flokk has reached annual sales of close to NOK 6 billion, with North America now the company's largest market and a growing portfolio of regional brands including 9to5 Seating, Stylex, Via Seating, Spec Furniture, and ergoCentric.
