Flokk brand Offecct showcased updated design and launch new acoustic panel at Stockholm Design Week

At last week's digital edition of Stockholm Design Week, Offecct previewed some exciting new developments to their popular Font seating family and unveiled the latest design to feature in their Soundwave® collection.

Font Sofa System Grows

Matti Klenell and Offecct have now further developed the successful sofa system Font, adding more parts and functions in the process. First developed for the Swedish Nationalmuseum in Stockholm, Font is a graphically clear modular sofa with historical roots and contemporary versatility.

Font was born out of a concrete need for a visually simple sofa that is easy to use, combine and move around. The idea was it to have a contemporary minimalist expression and at the same time carry a part of the Nationalmuseum's history.

“Font is based on reduction and the shape felt just right for me from the first moment, with refined simplicity and good comfort. Therefore, it has been both natural and fun to continue to develop it with more modules," says Matti Klenell.

The graphic clarity also inspired the name Font with its associations to letters that can be combined and shaped into a distinct furniture language. The straight and curved modules that were launched in 2018 are now complemented with an armchair, straight benches and added curved modules that enable an outward-facing seating as well.

“From the start, the idea with the system was that it could grow out of the museum and be used in many different public spaces. That’s exactly what has happened and with the new parts, the flexibility and versatility have become even greater and so have the possibilities” says Matti Klenell.

New collaboration behind playful acoustic panel

A second unveiling at Stockholm Design week included the latest design to feature in the Soundwave® collection. The new Jasmine acoustic panel is designed by Offecct´s new designer Layla Mehdi Pour and is inspired by nature's interplay between order and irregularity. The panel is shaped like a triangle and can be combined into various playful solutions.

Offecct offers a wide range of sound-absorbing wall panels, designed by world-leading designers. The versatile collection Soundwave® not only provides a good acoustic environment but also brings character to the interior.

The Jasmine acoustic panel is the result of the first collaboration between Italy-based product designer Layla Mehdi Pour and Offecct.

“When I designed Jasmine, I was inspired by natural elements that may seem irregular in their macro form, but in the details have a wonderful precision and regular structure. In this case, I started foremost from flowers and developed them into a concrete product with a playful character", she says.

Solutions for creating good, sustainable sound environments in public spaces are becoming increasingly important. Jasmine's connection to the living, natural environment can be seen as a response to the growing need to reduce noise and restore calm in, for example, offices, restaurants and other meeting places.

"I strived to capture nature´s poetic rhythm and mix it with more geometric, triangular shapes that can be combined in different ways and create new expressions and compositions," says Layla Mehdi Pour.
