Flokk receive "Brand Builder of the Year" award at Norwegian Design Industry Awards

Flokk receives recognition for setting a new standard for high quality, sustainable furniture design, from the Norwegian Design Industry at annual awards conference

Yesterday evening at the Norwegian Design Industry Conference, Flokk received the ‘Brand Builder of the Year’ award, in recognition not only of our strong profile in Norway, but in setting a European standard for high quality sustainable design.

Flokk has managed to establish a brand with sustainability, design and ergonomics as building blocks,” the jury decision reads, continuing, “Flokk continues to grow through acquisitions, thereby incorporating more and more brand names into its 'flock'.

Instituted in 2013, the Brand Builder of the Year Award is intended to give extra honour to companies that "have gone the extra mile" to promote their own brand, creating stand out products that increase the global awareness of Norwegian industry.

“The Flokk brand gives us a strong flag to sail under. It allows us to communicate what makes us unique, while also being able to accommodate several strong product brands.” said Christian Lodgaard, SVP Flokk Design, who received the award on behalf of the company. “When we created the brand, this was not a very common strategy, and that is precisely why it is extra nice to receive this award today.”

As well as the presenting of awards, the event, held at the National Museum in Oslo, gathered 130 leading players from across Norwegian industry, including government ministers, to discuss and share best practices within sustainability, technology, investments, export, and branding. This included the welcome news of government investment in the Norwegian design industry, targeting increased sales of Norwegian goods on a global scale.

Egil Sundet, Director of the Norwegian Confederation of Design Industries, commented “Now the pieces will fall into place before the summer, and then we will get a better picture of what this investment will look like. We hope it will help us achieve the goal of doubling Norwegian design and finished product exports by 2030.”

Congratulations also go Gudbrandsdalens Uldvarefabrik, Alfa, and Vestre, who were the recipients of the other awards on the night.
