Flokk’s new Oslo headquarters offers vision of the future of work

The long-awaited opening of the new Flokk Headquarters in Oslo cements Flokk's transition to full workplace solutions provider, providing employees with an impressive new office, and a flagship showroom housing the vast range of seating, social space furniture and acoustic solutions.

The new Flokk HQ perfectly encapsulates our vision for the future of work, providing visitors with a snapshot of the environments and workplace experiences our designs are made for. Not only is the building a bustling office for our Oslo-based team, it is also a flagship showroom, a place where we can showcase all of the designs from across the brands of Flokk, viewed in living, breathing workspaces and social areas.

“With this place we wanted to create an office where we wipe out the differences between front and back,” says Christian Lodgaard, SVP Products & Brands at Flokk, continuing; “…between the places where we bring our furniture on display and the places where we physically work, basically making all of it a showcase of how we envision the future of work.”

Located on Drammensveien, a 3-minute walk from Skøyen station, the building was originally a car showroom, which made it easily adaptable for the open-spaced design implemented. The entire design project was handled in house, with Flokk architects and designers managing each and every element.

From the research and development teams to marketing, HR to Finance, the new HQ will be home to the full range of professions, each with their own individual requirements. A key aspect of the design was to provide variation for our employees, sculpting dynamic working environments suited to the different tasks of each department. With the added dynamic of also being a showroom, it was important to maintain openness, allowing visitors to intuitively navigate themselves around.

As with everything we do, sustainability was a vital element of the project, with materials chosen from responsible vendors and selected for their renewability and longevity. Colours were equally chosen to ensure they would not be quickly outdated, whilst also allowing our furniture designs to do the speaking visually.

Flokk Design Manager Øystien Austad “The new HQ has a reduced material palate. There’s a lot of glass white surfaces, steel but also natural materials. We have used different furniture, colour and fabrics to enrich this and to create a balance for this space.”

A unique feature of the workspace is the placement of the workshop in the centre, allowing our engineers and designers to see and hear the workplaces they are designing for, gaining inspiration, and regular feedback throughout their process

Throughout the design process, flexibility was key. By utilising flexible furniture, open areas effortlessly transform into additional showroom experiences,  event spaces and more. And by creating a space that can quickly adapt to suit emerging and unforeseen needs, we have built a future proof workplace that we can continue to grow into over the years, whatever they throw at us.
