The growing importance of responsible supply chains

We take a closer look at how Flokk integrates responsible supply chain practices into its operations. By prioritising ethical sourcing, environmental sustainability, and transparent governance, Flokk sets an example of how companies can turn supply chain management into a strategic advantage.

Supply chains are more than just a logistics function; they are now central to a company’s reputation and success. With increasing scrutiny on sustainability, businesses must manage their supply chains with transparency, responsibility, and ethical practices.

Today, companies are evaluated not just on the quality of their products, but on how those products are made, sourced, and distributed. Responsible supply chain management is no longer optional—it’s a central part of business strategy.

Why responsible supply chains matter

Supply chain management plays a crucial role in how stakeholders perceive a company. Consumers, investors, and partners increasingly demand that businesses operate with integrity across their supply chains, considering factors including:

Transparency: Open communication and detailed reporting about sourcing, suppliers, and practices.

Ethical standards: Fair labour practices, safe working conditions, and respect for workers' rights.

Environmental Impact: Efforts to reduce carbon emissions, sustainable sourcing, and minimising waste.

Companies that ignore these aspects risk damaging their reputation, facing supply disruptions, and losing stakeholder trust. Conversely, those prioritising responsible supply chains can foster positive relationships, drive innovation, and contribute to global sustainability.

Flokk’s commitment to responsible supply chains

At Flokk, we believe responsible supply chain management is both a business priority and a moral responsibility. Our approach is guided by our Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles, driving us to innovate while maintaining high standards.

Environmental sustainability

Flokk’s environmental strategy focuses on ethical sourcing, ensuring that materials are sustainable and products are designed for durability, repairability, and recyclability. By minimising the environmental impact throughout the product lifecycle, we not only reduce our carbon footprint but also help our customers do the same.

Social responsibility

Social responsibility is embedded in our supply chain management. We are committed to fair labour practices, safe working conditions, and supporting worker well-being. By fostering an ethical supply chain, we create a sustainable business that benefits all stakeholders.

Governance and ethical sourcing

Transparency, accountability, and ethical leadership are essential to maintaining the trust of our customers, employees, investors, and suppliers. Our supplier selection process is rigorous, with continuous monitoring to ensure compliance with our high standards. By partnering with suppliers who share our values, we maintain a supply chain that aligns with our principles.

Controlling the supply chain - a strategic advantage

Flokk’s proactive supply chain strategy allows us to maintain control over key elements, from design to production. From the early stages of product design, we prioritise control over the intellectual property and production tools needed for key components.

Tobias Wärn, Manager of Category Management at Flokk, explains: “Our level of control ensures that we uphold our ethical standards across all aspects of production... If a supplier does not meet our requirements, we can either develop them or swiftly find alternatives, maintaining the integrity of our supply chain.”

Building strong supplier partnerships

Flokk’s supplier selection process aligns with our environmental and social values. Suppliers are evaluated on various criteria, including sustainability, corporate social responsibility, and quality. We work closely with them to enhance performance, conducting regular assessments and on-site audits to ensure ongoing compliance.

Ethical business conduct

Flokk’s commitment to ethical business conduct is outlined in our Responsible Business Conduct guidelines and Code of Conduct for Business Partners. We adhere to international standards, including the UN Global Compact and the International Labour Organisation (ILO), to uphold human rights, combat corruption, and prevent unethical practices.

Strategic initiatives

Flokk is actively working to strengthen supply chain resilience by partnering with local suppliers, especially those near our European manufacturing sites. As of 2023, 77% of our direct material suppliers are based in Europe, reducing lead times and enhancing control. Additionally, 97% of our suppliers have signed our Code of Conduct, reflecting our dedication to responsible sourcing.

Leading by example

Flokk’s responsible supply chain management extends across all areas of our business. By investing in sustainable materials, setting ambitious ESG goals, and enhancing transparency, we build trust and long-term value for our stakeholders. Our efforts demonstrate that responsible business practices benefit everyone—from our suppliers to our customers.

At Flokk, we are committed to leading by example, showing that a responsible approach to supply chains is not just good for business but essential for a sustainable future.
