Following successful editions in Sweden and the Netherlands, the HÅG Capisco Design Challenge has now landed in Belgium. Five leading Belgian architecture and design studios were invited to reimagine Flokk’s most iconic task chair - the HÅG Capisco - offering their own creative interpretations of this ergonomic classic.
Participating studios included UAU Collectiv, POLO Architects, B-bis architecten, B Brand, and Architects in Motion.
Each studio received a HÅG Capisco to transform in a way that reflected their unique design DNA. Over several weeks, the chairs were reworked, reinterpreted, and restyled, resulting in five one-of-a-kind designs that reflect the richness of Belgium’s creative landscape.
From bold colour palettes to sculptural form tweaks, each submission brought a new perspective to a well-known silhouette.
Final showcase at the Flokk Design Center in Brussels
On 26 June, the challenge concluded with a celebratory event at the Flokk Design Center in Brussels. The participating studios gathered to unveil their final creations and share the thinking behind their designs.
The event featured a keynote by Øystein Austad, Design Manager for Flokk brand OFFECCT, who shared insights into his own creative processes and design philosophy. He also introduced OFFECCT Circulus, the newest design by Mario Ferrarini, recently awarded the Red Dot: Best of the Best for its exemplary circular design principles.
Guests enjoyed a walking dinner and drinks, offering a chance for designers, partners, and guests to connect and celebrate the role of collaboration in sparking creative innovation.
All five chair designs are now on display at the Flokk Design Center in Brussels.
